On the Move

 In Feature, Food

The Philip Slein Gallery has settled into new digs in the Central West End, leaving its longtime space on Washington Avenue behind. The grand opening of what Slein calls a “larger, more refined” space features the art of Jackie Saccoccio through June 30, with another highend show to closely follow. The move was bittersweet for Slein, who has been called the unofficial “Mayor of Washington Avenue.” Slein says he’ll continue to be a proponent of Downtown revitalization, but he felt the gallery was better suited to be surrounded by fellow galleries and other high-end retailers, rather than the predominantly entertainment-based businesses along Wash Ave.
