On Tap: Urban Chestnut Expanding Distribution to Chicago

 In Food

Missouri’s third largest craft brewery continues to share its beers with the region as Urban Chestnut Brewing Company will be expanding distribution to Chicago. Founded and operated by Florian Kuplent and David Wolfe, the two former Anheuser-Busch employees not only opened their second brewery, Urban Chestnut Grove Brewery & Bierhall in The Grove last year, but also recently announced plans to to start a third brewery later this year in the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Wolnzach, Germany. The company’s advantage of the second brewing location in The Grove allowed distribution to head to Columbia, Jefferson City and Kansas City, Missorui in the last year. For Chicago, Urban Chestnut is planning to team up with Illinois’ largest distributor, Lakeshore Beverage Company. 4465 Manchester Ave., The Grove; 3229 Washington Ave., Midtown, 314.222.0143

Feb. 6: Head over to Perennial Artisan Ales tonight for the release of Baileys’ Chocolate Stout at 6pm in the tasting room. The local craft brewer—which was recently made a top 2014 subregion ranking on RateBeer—brewed this new stout in collaboration with Baileys’ Restaurant Group. An interpretation of a traditional English oatmeal stout, the flavors combine rich roasted barley with a slightly sweet earthiness of the cacao nibs that are added after fermentation. 125 Michigan Ave., South City, 314.631.7300
