On Tap: The Muddled Pig Gastropub Coming Soon to Maplewood
Another new dining and drinking destination is on its way to Maplewood. The Muddled Pig Gastropub will be opening in the space that formerly housed The Wood by Austin Hamblin and Michelle Allender, two former executive chefs at Bella Vino Wine Bar & Tapas in St. Charles. As reported by Feast, the duo’s new venture will focus on pork, with upscale pub food and a whiskey, bourbon and scotch bar along with craft cocktails and modest wine selection. The Wood will close after service this weekend on Jan. 31, so expect to see the new spot open in February.

Make your way to SLAM Underground, the all-adult party where this month, you can “Pick Your Own Adventure” as you make your way through the museum while enjoying live music from So Many Dynamos and sipping on signature cocktails. Jan. 30-31: The Mardi Gras festivities are continuing this weekend with the annual Southern Comfort Taste of Soulard. Grab your hurricanes and experience some of the best food in the city with Mardi Gras drink and cajun dish options like gumbo and whiskey bread pudding. Tickets for the self-guided tasting and pub crawl come with a Southern Comfort drink and six food vouchers. Tickets are available in advance and can be redeemed at the Bud Light Party Centre in Soulard Market on Saturday, Jan. 30 or at any participating restaurant or bar.
Feb. 2: Spend the evening with Sump Coffee’s Scott Carey and a Perennial Artisan Ales brewer for a guided beer and coffee blending session at Dressel’s Public House. Tickets are $50 and will include a beer flight with appetizers by executive chef Derek Rice.
