On Tap: Schlafly, Boulevard Breweries Win Washington Post's Beer Madness Competition
March 30: Missouri beer has been named the best in the country, according to The Washington Post, which spent the last month giving blind taste tests of beer to a panel of four readers and four experts in a Beer Madness competition. Like the popular basketball brackets, the panelists went through the rounds leading up to the two finalists—which happened to be St. Louis’ Schlafly Kölsch and Kansas City-native Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale. Instead of one champion, each got top nods yesterday, as the blind-tasting panel experts chose Boulevard and the public bracket named Schlafly Kölsch as the best beer in the country.
