On Tap: Recess Brewing Opens in Edwardsville, Six Row Brewing Releases New Beers

Dec. 2: Edwardsville welcomed its newest business to the area this week with the grand opening of Recess Brewing. Owned and operated by an Edwardville-native home brewer and former educator, Matt Flach, the brewery will have four year-round brews in addition to a rotating selection of seasonal and specialty brews. 307 N. Dec. 3-6: Six Row Brewing Company is celebrating its fifth anniversary this week with a new line of brews to mark the occasion. Starting off, the brewery released a Vanilla Chocolate-Covered Raisin Porter. Yesterday, a collaborative brew called First Crack was introduced, which combines the flavors of the Imperial Oatmeal Brown Ale with Maplewood’s La Cosecha Coffee Roasters’ coffee. The new “breakfast in a bottle” will be available on tap for a limited time and in 22-ounce bottles to-go are on the market where craft beer is sold in STL, while supplies last.

Tonight and tomorrow, guests can look forward to the releases of: Cherry Porter Braggot, Cascade Whale and Imperial Brown, Raspberry Sour Stout, Cascade 321! IPA and Baltic Porter. There will also be a cake cutting on Saturday at 12:30pm. 3690 Forest Park Ave., 314.531.5600, Midtown

Dec. 12: Perennial Artisan Ales teams up for a Beer Dinner at Flying Saucer next week. Guests will experience five beers in a four-course meal starting with Saison De Lis as the intro beer.

Here’s the lineup of the dishes and brew pairings:

• First course: Curry-cilantro sweet potato soup, paired with Hommel Bier
• Second course: Pomegranate salad with butternut squash pot stickers, paired with Dual Artisanship (Prairie Artisan Ales)
• Third course: Beef tenderloin with steak butter and side, paired with Peace Offering
•Fourth course: Pumpkin ice cream and ginger pound cake, paired with Abraxas
