On Tap: Raise a Glass to Maifest, American Craft Beer Week with Urban Chestnut
May 14: New York-based Shmaltz Brewing is releasing its new barrel-aged beer Bock Bock on Cherokee Street this Saturday. Kicking off at 1pm, follow Shmaltz Brewing’s Jeff Doerr as he heads down Cherokee starting at Byrd & Barrel with a special hot sauce made with the signature beer. From there, go to Saint Louis Hop Shop at 3pm for draft pours with samples of Byrd & Barrel nugz with a kick of the new spicy sauce. End the event at Yaquis at 5pm for a Byrd & Barrel pizza featuring Yaquis’ blanca sauce, nugz and the Bock Bock hot sauce.
May 14: Celebrate spring’s arrival at one of the oldest German traditions—Maifest. Held from 12-10pm at Urban Chestnut Brewing Co.’s Midtown Brewery & Biergarten, enjoy a full Bock Bier lineup with the brewery’s new Maibock Gewässerschutz, Maximilian, Erlkönig, Oxnbräu, Urbanator and more. There will be barbecue on hand from UCBC and other guests along with live music from Larry Hallar, Paul Bonn & the Bluesmen and Rusty Nail. May 15: Join in the adult coloring frenzy with a night of Coloring with Cocktails happening after hours at Larder & Cupboard. Bring your favorite coloring book and colored pencils—or use provided ones if you don’t have any—and enjoy light snacks and cocktails made with the Maplewood shop’s small batch artisan products.
