On Tap: Get Ready for the 8th Annual Centennial Beer Festival
Beer-lovers and makers unite next week for this year’s St. Louis Centennial Beer Festival at Moulin Events and the Malt House Cellar. The festival—named after the Centennial Malt House, which was built in 1876 and served as the malt house for Schnaider Brewery—features more than 200 beers and ciders from an impressive lineup of some of the best regional, domestic and international breweries.
If you didn’t get to purchase your ticket to the sold-out Brewmaster Dinner on Feb. 25, plan on drinking your way through the beers at the tastings on Feb. 26-27. Be sure to take part in the second annual Home Brewer’s Competition on Friday where you get to be the judge and vote for your favorite local craft beer. The winning beer will be offered at 21st Street Brewer’s Bar with the spring line-up of beers. Food will be available at PW Pizza, 21st Street Brewer’s Bar and Vin de Set—which will include a revamped beer list and half-price appetizers from 10pm-midnight. Fans of The Old Bakery Beer Company will be happy to hear the brews from the Alton, Ill., brewery will begin to appear on drafts throughout St. Louis. Known for their certified-organic beers, celebrate the news at a keep-the-glass event this Saturday, Feb. 20 from 6pm-8pm at St. Louis Hop Shop. Feb. 22: Drink margaritas, support The Hacienda Foundation. This charitable branch of the popular Hacienda Mexican Restaurant donates a percentage of sales to local charities through its Margs for a Mission program.
