Miso Hungry for More

The established Clayton hotspot remodels its space and revamps its menu.

To call Miso on Meramec in Clayton a must-visit destination for sushi and a hot scene is an understatement. Sure, they serve it, but it was almost ten years ago in St. Louis that they started it—the sushi with a scene trend. The concept combined fresh sushi with a chic downstairs lounge where you could catch DJs spinning nightly and order a saketini or cocktail. Still going strong, Miso continues to evolve—whether it’s mixing up the nightlife scene with themed nights and hot drink specials or changing up its menu.

Recently, Miso not only added new menu items and lunch service, but it also expanded its first floor space, adding more dining space and fittingly chic bamboo-esque chairs and tables. The new space is a breath of fresh air—as are the new “Miso Revolution” rolls, a dozen options that include a satisfying Godzilla roll with smoked salmon, unagi, masago and cream cheese and the Magic Mushroom with fresh salmon, enoki mushrooms and topped with chile aioli. And watch the chefs at work when you order the Papasan roll: spicy snow crab, cucumber and avocado topped with striped bass and a jalapeno wafer with chile aioli, rolled then seared with a blow torch. Talk about a hotspot (16 N. Meramec Ave., Clayton, 314.863.7888).
