Minnesota-Based Artisan Eastvold Furniture

 In Culture, Style

In the rural town of Dennison, Minnesota (population 171), about an hour south of Minneapolis, lies Eastvold Furniture, a workshop devoted to the timeworn tradition of woodworking and carpentry. The brand’s founder and namesake, Matt Eastvold, grew up on a farm in Minnesota that his grandfather purchased in the 1930s, and began by working in his father’s welding business. He later began experimenting with woodworking and became exposed to the world of modern design, which heavily influences his pieces today.

Made with sustainable materials intended to stand the test of time, Eastvold’s pieces harken back to the beautiful simplicity of midcentury modern design but with an updated twist, whether working on an oak credenza or his signature Alden sideboard, an elegant furnishing for storage in both commercial and residential spaces. It remains one of Eastvold’s most popular pieces.

You can often find him sanding, varnishing or pressing a giant piece of oak through a table saw, infrequently without a pencil behind his ear.
