March of the Penguins

With winter runways rampant in feminine tuxedos, the trend is clear: jacket required.

Borrowing from the boys is nothing new, but this season, the trend takes a more
formal turn. From the glam-rock blazers that debuted at Balmain and Isabel Marant
to the elegant suiting introduced by Michael Kors and Yves Saint Laurent (the
originator of Le Smoking), winter’s choice outerwear seems inspired by menswear—
more specifically, its black-tie staple. The take? Suit yourself! Indulge in
designers’ overwhelming tux love by shopping updated versions of the traditional
dinner jacket. Luxe textures, unexpected colors, cropped cuts and edgy embellishments
define today’s most covetable styles. Dress them up (with matching pants),
or dress them down (with jeans and a tee), and don’t hesitate to add to your growing
collection; it is homme work, after all.
