Leather Bound

The latest in leather is more ballroom than biker chic

The fashion conscious concur that if you purchase only one piece this season, make it leather. What’s so different this season from last? Pretty much everything. From the cuts (pleats, leggings and sweetheart necklines) to the context (pair with printed tops, chunky baubles and silk scarves), all the rules have changed. There is, however, one theme that remains constant: femininity. Kick those beat-up biker boots to the curb, and opt instead for embellished stilettos and a pleated leather skirt (think less Hell’s Angel and more Victoria’s Secret Angel). In terms of outerwear, nix the traditional motocross jacket, and hit the road in a tailored cognac leather blazer, perfect for work or even a date—perhaps a date with a biker.
