Immersive Theatre Project Presents “Hamlet: See What I See”
As the first project in the Immersive Theatre Project series, Rebel and Misfits Productions announces the production of “Hamlet: See What I See,” on presentation at The Barnett On Washington Nov. 12-18. Toss aside all your preconceived notions about theatre—or Shakespeare’s famous work—and ready yourself for a thrilling journey of self-awakening.
As the first immersive piece of theatre to be produced in St. Louis, guests are invited to explore the entire world of Elsinore, including its residents. Featuring an adaptation and concept by Kelly Hummert and direction by Melanie S. Armer, this provocative production should prime audiences to expect the unexpected.
Hamlet, the young Prince of Denmark, has been away attending school in Wittenberg. After coming home to attend the funeral of his father, Hamlet finds himself at the wedding of his mother to his now-deceased father’s brother, Claudius, who has suddenly inherited the throne of King of Denmark. Hamlet’s life becomes overwrought with fear when the ghost of his father appears, seeking vengeance for his own murder by encouraging the killing of Claudius. It’s up to the distraught Hamlet to decide whether or not to follow through with the deadly act or turn the violence against himself.
Theatre-lovers are encouraged to sign up on the Immersive Theatre Project website to receive real-time updates on the happenings at the Castle of Elsinore. Attendees are encouraged to interact with the members of the court in real-time and use their cellular devices to share their experiences during the presentation.
Tickets for the production are now on sale for as low as $34.50 with a valid college ID. There is no seating for this event; admission is standing room only in order to encourage the interactive nature of the production. Show time is 8pm nightly. A cocktail hour with the cast begins at 7pm, and a cash bar is available throughout the cocktail hour and the performance. Attendees must be 18+ to enter.
