Hop Stop: Fill Your Ticket At Schlafly Beer’s HOP In The City
On Sept. 17, Schlafly Beer presents HOP in the City, a fete of foam and funk that transforms The Tap Room into “The Toe Tap Room,” for a conclave that boasts the best of beats and brews with revelers enjoying more than 40 different beers and music from six diverse musical artists.
Bigger than last year, this year’s HOP in the City runs from noon-9pm and features more robust programming, allowing Missouri’s largest locally owned and independent craft brewery to throw its customers a seriously big party that incorporates tunes and tastings with an intriguing musical lineup and the finest local hops.
The music begins at noon with a searing set from the homegrown Union Rags and continues with the garage pulsations of A. Sinclair from 1:30-2:30pm. At 3pm, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears mesh blues, funk and soul for a performance that promises to be as hot as the summer sun. Austin foursome White Denim’s lively pastiches of jazzy jam rock and grooves follow at 4:30pm with the bagging dirge and grime of Canadian power rock duo, Black Pistol Fire at 6pm. Closing things out at 7:30pm is the TexMex hoedown of Calexico, an amazing ensemble from Tucson known for regularly selling out their shows here.
For HOP in the City, Schlafly is providing fans with multiple ways to shake it all day long. Tasting Tickets, an ideal package for discerning beer-drinkers are available for $30 and include full access to festival grounds and unlimited beer samples during a tasting from 1-5pm.
Tickets to the special session also include access to Schlafly’s unique range of beers as well as very exclusive Hop Trial selections brewed just for HOP in the City, including American IPA, Tasmanian IPA, 1904 American Lager (POTUS), American Sour with Blackberries, Peach Saison, Watermelon Lager, Rye IPA, Imperial Oktoberfest, Pumpkin Ale, Pumpkin Stout, Weissbier (festival beer), and additional cask and small brews from the brewery’s Pilotworks 20-gallon system. These specialty tappings of one-off beers will most likely never be poured outside of the festival.
For those wanting to just check out the bands, there are Lot tickets for $15. Each ticket includes entry to the party with individual food and beverage purchases excluded.
This year, the brewery bestowed the honor of creating artwork for their commemorative poster to Knoxville-based designer Justin Helton of Status Serigraph, a design agency specializing in creating limited-edition art and design for artists like The Black Keys, The Avett Brothers and My Morning Jacket.
