Get Up Close and Fashionable with St. Louis Fashion Fund Designers—One Last Time
If you’ve ever wandered just off Washington Avenue sometime in the last two years, you might have noticed a curious storefront with a enormous mural inside that proclaims something bold: Fashion Lives Here. Look a little closer, and you might have noticed a few young designers poised in the windows, stretching measuring tape across mannequin forms and pinning fabric into the perfect drape.
The building is home to the St. Louis Fashion Fund, an innovative nonprofit that’s working to make the Gateway City into the international style destination it was known as just a couple of generations ago. And soon, you’ll have a chance to see what those designers have been up to—and it may be one of your last chances to do it.
Tickets are on sale now for this Friday, Nov. 9, for the Up Close and Fashionable event, a cocktail party, trunk show, and general celebration of all things fashion—and in particular, the work of the six designers who took part in the Fashion Fund’s first ever incubator program.

In January of 2017, rising stars Agnes Hamerlik, Emily Brady Koplar, Allison Mitchell, Audra Noyes, Reuben Reuel and Charles Smith II came from all over the country to take up residence in their Washington Avenue studios. And before their two-year fellowships wind down next month and they all pack up to leave, they’re giving you one last glimpse of what they’ve made here—and helping the next generation of designers to follow in their footsteps. Proceeds benefit the Fashion Fund’s continuing programming.
If you need to accessorize your new finds (or pick up a few extra holiday gifts), local jewelry designers Joya as well as Everett Johnson of Liza B. Jewelry and Handbags will have some goodies for you to browse, too. And of course, this wouldn’t be a party without something to nosh and drink: Heirloom Bottling Company will be pouring the organic shrub cocktails, and chef Brice dal Farra will pair them with a scrumptious array of hors d’oeuvres.

It’s all hosted at Ladue’s PALM Health center—yes, if you want to make this the ultimate self-care day, you can even get a spa treatment in before you shop. Your ticket to Up Close and Fashionable also enters you into a drawing to win an exciting mystery gift from PALM.
Can’t make the kick off event? Whatever’s left over from Friday will be on sale the next day at PALM from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for more information on both events.
