FGI Saint Louis Presents “A Queen Within” Preview

 In Culture

The World Chess Hall of Fame found its home in the Central West End in September 2011. After holding residence in New Windsor, Washington D.C., and Miami they decided to settle here due to the vibrancy of Saint Louis and the growing international reputation of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. I will be the first to admit when I hear “World Chess Hall of Fame” the last thought that comes to mind is fashion but this October the historic building will house one of the largest and most rare Alexander McQueen collections in the world as well as a bevy of avante garde and emerging international designers.

FGI Saint Louis, known never to ride the coattails of anything fashion related, hosted a preview of the exhibit. Pieces by Gucci, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and of course, McQueen himself (including the last garment that he was said to have designed before his untimely death) were amongst the items viewed by the enamored attendees.

Since October feels light years away right now, we’ll give you a sneak peek of some of the most swoon worthy pieces we saw.
