Chris’ Pancake & Dining—a staple breakfast and dinner spot near The Hill since 1987—will be opening its second location this fall in space formerly occupied by The Docket on the first floor of Saint Louis University School of Law Downtown. Expect to see classic pancakes, omelets and the addition of pizza to the menu by its owners—who are also owners of Bartolini’s area restaurants—later this fall. 100 N. Tucker, Downtown

Aug. 24: Cocktails by Candlelight is coming this week to Sanctuaria. Enjoy a romantic evening featuring ingredients from the tapas restaurant’s on-site garden and Foundations Farms based in Belleville, Ill. There will be a four-course meal with dishes like herbed sirloin and a special sweet rum and sherry-pickled carrot cake all paired with top-shelf cocktails. Aug. 25: Grab a sandwich and beer at Gioia’s Deli on The Hill this Thursday from 4-8pm. Fifteen percent of all sales will benefit the affordable housing efforts of Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis. Aug. 28: Bourbon-, barbecue- and chocolate-lovers unite this Sunday in The Caramel Room at Bissinger’s. You’ll be enjoying a Bourbon Bash with more than 60 bourbons with barbecue eats by executive chef Nicholas Miller with sweet treats and Bissinger’s chocolate pairings by chief chocolatier Dave Owens. Your ticket includes a tasting glass, three-hour open bar and food with live music by The Root Diggers & Stephen Paul. 1600 N. Broadway, Downtown

Sept. 18: Mark your calendars: Announced via Facebook post yesterday, Byrd & Barrel will be throwing a party with Downtown’s new 21-and-up arcade Start Bar. The dinner features eats inspired by classic games like the fried Frog(ger) legs lollipops and Donkey Kong monkey bread with bourbon caramel and banana ice cream. Beer from Urban Chestnut and 4 Hands Brewing Co. will be on hand with free game play after dinner with tunes spun by DJ Joe Luckey.
