1/ It’s breakup season in the fashion world and it seems as though not even the positions we thought were the most secure are safe. Just a week after the announcement that Raf Simons was parting ways with Dior, Lanvin confirmed that its fearless leader of 14 years, Alber Elbaz, was leaving the brand, but not by choice: He was discharged. The decision was credited to “the company’s majority shareholder,” referring to Lanvin’s owner, Shaw-Lan Wang, according to Business of Fashion and Elbaz himself. Fashion shade has officially been thrown.

2/ Although it’s just the beginning of the holiday shopping season, a buzz is already spreading that some retailers will be cutting back their hours during the ever-hyped Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend madness. Most notably, outdoor chain REI has stated that the company will be closed on the busiest shopping day of the year to encourage employees and customers to “get outdoors.” Will more stores jump on this highly respected bandwagon?

3/ This year’s contenders for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award were so great, the result was a three-way tie: Brother Vellies, Jonathan Simhkai and Gypsy Sport were announced as the triple winners of the elite award. All three designers will receive $300,000 each in lieu of the usual format of one winner and two runners-up, making this one of the biggest pieces of news in the national fashion circuit.
