Bid farewell to 2010 and ring in a New Year with delicious eats and bubbly sips.

This year, host a New Years Eve fte at your place; its easier than you might think. All it takes is some smart preparation, a little time in the kitchen and keeping the Champagne flowing. Cheers!

The Fare
We love the idea of a sit-down NYE dinner, but that doesnt mean you have to carve out hours preparing in the kitchen. Schnucks Cooks has created an easy but elegant meal that will keep guests sated through the hours of revelry ahead.

Marinated London Broil
(Serves 4)

What you need:

1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup dry red wine
1/4 cup less-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup Schnucks honey
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Schnucks chili powder
1 Certified Angus Beef round for London Broil (about 1 1/2 pounds)

What to do:
1. In medium bowl, with whisk, combine all ingredients except steak. Place steak in large zip-tight plastic bag. Pour marinade in bag; seal bag, pressing out excess air. Refrigerate 12 to 24 hours to marinate.

2. Preheat grill pan over medium heat. Remove steak from bag; discard marinade. Cook 12 to 14 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking, or until internal temperature reaches 135F for medium-rare. Transfer steak to cutting board. Let stand 10 minutes. Temperature will rise to 145F upon standing. Thinly slice steak across the grain to serve.

Perfect Pairing
With a refined dish such as this, a wine thats equally as elegant is in order. We like Sterling Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($28.99 at Schnucks), a beautifully spicy and fruity wine with hints of cedar and toasty oak. The smooth and silky tannins of this pour make it a great accompaniment to beef dishes as well as ripe cheeses.

The Snacks
To make it easy for guests to nibble throughout the night, set out an assortment of light bites that take little or no prep at all. Schnucks Des Peres store has an impressive selection of fine cheeses and Downtowns Culinaria location has so many easy options in their prepared foods department, youll be able to offer plenty of choices for guests to enjoy. The folks at Schnucks can even put together a customized platter of party favorites.

The Sips
Keep your guests flutes full and their spirits high with high-quality Champagnes. Our picks include Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, a rich, creamy pour that has a well-balanced quality that make it easy to sip ($44.99 at Schnucks). You also cant go wrong with Moet & Chandon, a mild champagne with small, active bubbles. Its a great choice for guests who prefer a lighter, more delicate Champagne ($34.99 at Schnucks). Tip: To open a Champagne or sparkling wine bottle with easeand to avoid injury or property damageplace a bar towel or linen napkin over the cork and slowly twist the bottle, not the cork, keeping your hand stationary over the top. Youll have much more leverage. And when filling flutes, pour down the center of the glass for maximum bubbles.
