Emerging Artist Basil Kincaid, Contemporary Art Museum + More Pop Up To Kick Off Murmuration

 In Culture, Event

On behalf of Murmuration, ALIVE is proud to produce Friday@Murmuration presented by Monsanto. A celebration of local musicians, artists, makers and entrepreneurs, Friday@Murmuration is the kickoff party to the Murmuration Festival, a weekend of celebration focused on the convergence of art, science, music and technology at the Cortex Innovation Community in the Central West End.

Friday@Murmuration will be an interactive journey through our city’s underground maker movement. Featuring DIY art activations from Squarefruit Labs and SpecDrum, attendees will immerse themselves in hands-on experiences that reflect the overall thesis of Murmuration.

A gallery-style fashion presentation featuring local designers Ameli Blaser, Marcel Coleman, Nasheli Juliana, Trang Nguyen, and Jena Miller will thrill local fashion-enthusiasts with avant-garde designs straight from Saint Louis. Live concerts from the St. Louis Symphony and 18 & Counting, flanked by a live art performance from emerging artist Basil Kincaid, will offer further artistic depth throughout the night. Other take-home opportunities will be available for purchase thanks to a pop-up art market curated by Westminster Press, where attendees can purchase original artwork as well as wares from local makers.

For the tech-savvy, the event offers a photobooth from local app maker Pikazo, featuring custom filters made specifically for the event. Finally, local furniture makers Narrative and David Stine Woodworking will round out the experience with some of their signature pieces topped off by exciting floral arrangements from Flowers To The People.

Food will be available via food trucks, with a variety of options just outside the main entrance, alongside the drum circle by SpecDrum.

The event is at 4240 Duncan Ave. and kicks off at 6pm and runs until 10pm on Friday, Sept. 23. Admission is free to the public.
