Elevate Your Memorial Day Weekend

 In Culture

A typical Memorial Day weekend spent lounging by the newly opened pool and later strolling in a towel to the nearest barbecue might be the route you plan to take this year. We don’t blame you. The familiar smell of fresh cut grass crunching beneath tanned toes, the faint sound of Top 40 playing from a distant speaker and the sizzle of the grill feel so good on the senses, they’re hard to pass up. This weekend give in. Indulge! But before Monday rolls around we encourage you to elevate your long weekend by partaking in some of the activities that make our fair city so special. In fact, we’ve already planned the perfect schedule. Simply read on.

The Itinerary

There are so many fun things happening in #STL this weekend. Pack your days full of family, friends and a fabulous schedule and you won’t get caught cutting the grass.

10am: Start at Brasserie By Niche, ALIVE’s 2014 Hot List winner for Best Brunch
12pm: Saturdays are for shopping. Move from the CWE to Kirkwood for shopping at Vie and Blush. Then drive next door to Webster Groves and hit The Clover and Leopard. Shop Local!
2pm: Time for a punch of caffeine to prepare you for the night ahead. Hit Rise Coffee, a St. Louis area newcomer with spunk conveniently situated in The Grove.
7pm: Hit one of our favorite venues in the city, Off Broadway, for a night of live music, live art, food trucks and more at their annual Memorial Day celebration, Rock-a-bration.

12pm: You slept in! After your snooze fest due to Rock-a-bration, we suggest a hearty yet healthy lunch at Athlete Eats on Cherokee street. The Bibimbap bowl is an office favorite!
1pm: After your healthy lunch you’ll feel re-energized to get moving. Roam around on Cherokee and check out the impressive array of antique and thrift stores. After, stop by the Mud House for a pick-me-up. Not the thrifting type? Head to Lafayette Square and pop in Climb So Ill for an afternoon workout of rock climbing.
3pm: Still feeling energized? Stroll through the Missouri History Museum, take in the exhibits and remember our St. Louis history and the many fallen soldiers who have lived here.
6pm: Dinner time already! Head East to The CWE where you’ll find delicious Hot List winners, Central Table Food Hall, Juniper and Scape.
9pm: We hope you’re not tired yet because we’ve planned a raucous night starting with a bottle of Pinot Noir at Brennen’s.
2am: Don’t worry, you’re off tomorrow. Take the elevator to the rooftop at the Moonrise Hotel and relax into a couch at Eclipse for great drinks and beautiful views of the STL skyline.
