Destination: The 3pm Tasting at Anheuser-Busch's The Biergarten

 In Food

Last week Anheuser-Busch opened The Biergarten, an outdoor extension of its tour center offering a variety of A-B products—including 17 beers on tap and daily flights—and a menu of small plates in a German-style beer garden setting. The Biergarten opens to the public daily at 11am, but the time to go is at the three o’clock hour. That’s when the garden offers a complimentary tasting hosted by an A-B brewmaster at the exact same time the daily tasting occurs inside the historic St. Louis Brewhouse.

Belly up to the custom-made beechwood bar and drink in the knowledge—and some ice-cold Budweiser products, including some that may still be in development. The brewmaster walks you through a proper tasting experience, noticing the bouquet, the webbing on the glass and the color. You’ll learn how to examine and truly taste different styles, how to pour the perfect beer, appropriate glassware pairings and more.

The 3pm tasting is short, only about 10 minutes, but it’s just the start to your experience in The Biergarten. Each tasting is followed by a visit from a Budweiser Clydesdale, and there are plenty of other beers to enjoy. Order a pint and a plate of sliders, kick back with friends and a little live music, and spend a sunny afternoon celebrating the good things in life. Namely, beer.
