Destination: Panorama at the St. Louis Art Museum
With the much-anticipated expansion of the St. Louis Art Museum comes a new dining experience in Forest Park, Panorama. This well-appointed dining venue is located in the new East Building of the museum and features the culinary stylings of chef Edward Farrow, a recent transplant who made a name for himself in Phoenix, Ariz., by championing local food and wine through his many partnerships with Arizona producers and artisans.
Farrow brings the same sensibility to his menu at Panorama, which has a strong focus on local and seasonal ingredients. Roasted local heritage pork is served with mustard-stone ground Missouri grits, salt-roasted petit beets and bacon-agave gastrique. The local grass-fed beef skirt steak is accompanied by horseradish-potato puree, fresh herbs and red wine-braised greens. And the roasted trout fillet sandwich is served on locally made Companion olive bread, topped with tomato-farro salad and shaved fennel. You’ll even find wines from St. James Winery by the bottle and glass on the wine list.
But what really shines about Farrow’s menu for this diner is its wide-ranging appeal. Art is for everyone, something that reaches people from every walk of life and every corner of the world. Farrow has ensured that his menu has something for everyone too. From items with mass appeal—such as wedge salads and family-style pasta dishes—to plates that speak to more well-versed palates—think pave of quinoa and avocado, and cornflour-crusted chicken livers served atop watermelon cubes garnished with sweet onion agradolce and drizzled with saba—patrons of varying culinary tastes will find something that resonates with them on this menu.
The restaurant opened on July 1, just two days after the opening of the new East Building addition to the museum. Lunch is served from 11am-2pm on Tue.-Sat.; dinner is served Fri. only, from 5-9pm; and Sunday there is an a la carte brunch from 10am-2pm. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
