Cynthia Rowley's Provocative Fall/Winter 2014 Presentation at NYFW
Fashion week may be wrapping up, but designer Cynthia Rowley sent it off with her own quintessential “bang” at last night’s secret Fall / Winter ’14 presentation, held at the mysteriously romantic Diamond Horseshoe nightclub in Manhattan’s theater district.
“I just wanted to make something that people will love,” explained Rowley.
The edited presentation featured eight looks from her full FW ’14 collection and consisted of models artfully staged atop vintage velvet couches, even posing from inside an encased window beside the historic nightclub’s unassuming entrance.
Structured jackets in black nylon, delicate pink charmeuse skirts, and heavy wool shift dresses embroidered with leafy designs were styled with details true to Rowley’s decidedly sportswear-inspired, mod collection. We swooned for her shortened fur scarves, muted color-blocked cutouts, and african violet belts in place of clasps or buttons.
Our favorite accessorized look was a flirty, multi-color nail set paired with oversized bangles, high-waisted, yellow leather shorts and oxblood riding boots.
The presentation-turned-party proved to be a deliciously provocative evening filled with head-turning style, celebrities, cocktails, burlesque performers and flashing lights. The eternally youthful Cynthia Rowley certainly knows how to get people talking; the perfect ending to day 6 of New York Fashion Week.
