Cozy Up

Head to these winter watering holes with the top fireplaces in town.

The fireplaces at the all-seasons rooftop bar Three Sixty prove that sleek and modern can be cozy, too. And with shorter days, there’s more time to enjoy the spectacular lights of the city skyline (314.241.8439, Downtown).

Warm and inviting, Sasha’s Wine Bar is a “two-fer” of sorts: Both locations have great fireplace ambiance. Add a glass of wine and a marble platter filled with cheeses from around the globe and you can easily forget the snow-covered outside world (314.863.7274, DeMun and 314.771.7274, Shaw).

Put a Cajun spin on your winter warm-up next to the crackling fire at Broadway Oyster Bar, with a bowl of gumbo, a bottle of beer and an all-around upbeat atmosphere to boot. You can catch the Soulard Blues Band’s open jam on Dec. 22 (314.621.8811, Downtown).

And no list of fireplaces would be complete without a mention of the Fox & Hounds Tavern, the Cheshire’s picture-perfect definition of coziness. The intimate pub is a re-creation of a gathering room in an English home, where you can relax in a plush chair by the big stone fireplace and choose from a dozen varieties of Irish, American and Scottish whiskey, among other spirited drinks (314.647.7300, Clayton).
