Artists, here’s your chance to express your love for this city in a big way: Switch, a local marketing agency, is right now in the beginning stages of finding an artist (or team of artists) to create a mural that will be part of the 66 Reasons to Love St. Louis campaign.  The mural, a piece of art to measure 10 feet by 30 feet, will be displayed on the KDHX building in Grand Center and will presented to the city as gift from Phillips 66.

The mural should focus on highlighting the people and the stories that make our city so great, while leaning away from the “Best of” format. Following the application deadline (May 15), four finalists will be selected and given $500 to further develop their ideas into a more formal proposal. On June 24, the final selection will be made and a $20,000 commission will be awarded to the lucky artist for creation of the outdoor mural.

If you’re even the least bit curious, get your questions to Switch now: The deadline for questions is 5pm on May 1. After that, the next big deadline is May 15, when applications are due. Learn more about the mural, the campaign and how you can be involved at Switch’s blog.
