Saint Louis Fashion Week set to draw record crowds.

Tuesday night, Fashion Week’s first show kicked off with Brown Shoe Project:Design!, hosted by Third Degree Glass Factory, where six promising designers showcased their collections. The six finalists were selected in an online voting competition, and included Blue Bird Denim (Anna Friss), Cavortress (Julie Wheat), Jezebel (Jane Katherine Zachritz), Kristin Archibald, Roberto Mendes and ssonn (Silvia Sonn).

After presenting their lines to a packed house, all the designer-finalists could do is wait as judges Debra Bass, Carol Crudden, Darin Slyman, Jill Manoff, Sarah Craig Garlich and Tracy Marklein deliberated to decide a winner. And new this year, was the People’s Choice category, where attendees could cast their vote via text message with the name of the line they loved most.

The judges carefully compared notes, and ssonn was announced the winner of Project:Design! and will win a professional, fashion-forward website to showcase their line, created by Christopher Rubin de la Borbolla and Jen Rieger, the creative and technical team behind 963Collective; a fashion spread in ALIVE Magazine; and $5,000 towards a Smile Makeover plus “Whitening for Life” at VivaSmiles Advanced Dentistry. The People’s Choice winner, Jezebel, walked away with a $250 credit from fabric.com to create more fabulous fashions.
