Exciting news in the St. Louis and national fashion industry: The hometown crew at Brown Shoe Company has just announced that they have teamed up with fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg on a new footwear line. The designer told Women’s Wear Daily she plans on “putting her feet” into the deal by being involved in all aspects of the design and brand launch.

Brown Shoe Company CEO Diane Sullivan believes the move is beneficial for both parties. “This is a great opportunity for both companies to continue to build on an already solid and successful global brand,” says Sullivan to WWD. “Diane is such an inspiration to everyone, and we look forward to making amazing shoes together.”

The $2.6 billion global company plans to position the new DVF line as a high-end contemporary addition to some of Brown Shoe Company’s other successful designer brands like Vince and Via Spiga, and will be available to wholesale partners that are already working closely with the DVF brand. As far as the selection, von Furstenberg plans on providing sandals, heels, boots, the “power” shoes and casual shoe options. “I understand shoes,” says von Furstenberg to WWD. “Christian Louboutin used to sell his shoes on my kitchen table on 12th Street.”
