Old Rock House has launched "Live and Local STL," a new monthly mussic series that pairs local craft beers with indie bands. It’s the brainchild of manager Brian McCormac who realized that many music fans are also interested in the craft beer movement.

The beers selected will always be new, and sometimes even exclusive releases. Whichever descriptive words the brewery uses to describe the beer, McCormack finds a local band he thinks shares the same attributes. The first concert in January featured Schlafly Scotch Ale and a performance by Celtic music duo Joe Stickley and Sean Canan.

The next "Live and Local" event is set for March 13, with Urban Chestnut’s Calypso IPA and local band Big Brother Thunder & The Master Blasters. The concerts will be held about once a month, whenever the venue has an opening. Doors open at 7pm with a talk and beer tasting by the featured brewery.
