Behind The Scenes: ALIVE Magazine February Cover Shoot With Vladimir Tarasenko

 In Culture

It was all fun and games at our February cover shoot starring the St. Louis Blues’ not-so-secret weapon, Vladimir Tarasenko, one of this NHL season’s breakout stars. The 23-year-old phenom has quickly turned into one of St. Louis’ star athletes, making him the perfect face of our February Innovation issue.

“For such a successful player, Tarasenko is really down to earth. It was great having him on my set with all of his youthful energy,” says photographer Wesley Law. Joined by Law, the creative team on-set included ALIVE’s Editor-In-Chief Kelly Hamilton, Fashion Editor Sarah Stallmann with assistant Azizah Badwan, hair stylist Valerie Brown and photography assistant Victoria Lafferty. “We lucked out in the wardrobe department,” admits Stallmann. “With sports players you never really know what will fit and if you will find what you have in your head. Saks Fifth Avenue came though with the shirts though and 10denza had the perfect royal blue watch by TechnoMarine.”

ALIVE also teamed up with local start-up Artifox, who provided the minimalist-yet-techie-friendly desk that was the perfect element to highlight St. Louis’ stance on innovation.
