Beauty Files: The Daily Health Drink You Need To Try
For those who are looking for an all-natural immune booster, probiotic, metabolism controlling energy drink, look no further than your kitchen cabinets. It’s no secret that apple cider vinegar has dozens of proven benefits—and can kill a cold faster than any over-the-counter med, I’ve found—but did you know that drinking the “magical” liquid daily can actually aid in improving your overall health?
Despite the many other benefits and uses, the main point to take into account with ACV is its power to regulate the body’s pH to an ideal level. According to several sources, research shows that higher acid levels (lower pH level) lead to a lack of energy and higher incidences of infection and sickness.
Not only does starting your day with ACV give you a more natural energy boost than a cup of coffee (or several), it also plays a role as an all-natural source to ward off colds and infections—which can especially be prevalent in the cold winter months. I have even increased my ACV intake (to the three times per day as suggested on the bottle) at the first on-set of a cold, and after a good night’s sleep woken up a new woman. My friends can attest to this method as well!
What’s the best brand? Hands down, Bragg’s ACV is the best choice to always have on hand. The “Mother” (the living particles that ensure you are getting the good stuff and the best benefits) is visible and the brand even has a great website/book that boasts even more tips on natural health.
But it tastes terrible. Well, that’s where this recipe comes in. I drink this first thing in the morning, but if you have a hard time with that, anytime of day will do.
Mix 8 ounces hot water (to the temperature you like your tea) with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, juice from 1/2 a lemon and 1 teaspoon (or to taste) fresh honey. Mix and enjoy promptly.
In addition to tasting like hot apple cider, you are getting the benefits of ACV as well as a boost from lemon, another great daily addition to water that also aides in digestion, happier skin and a healthy liver. A toast to your health!
