Award-Winning Author and Social Activist Gail Sheehy Visits St. Louis
Catch groundbreaking journalist Gail Sheehy when she stops by St. Louis on March 17 for her event with the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival at the Jewish Community Center.
Sheehy will be discussing her recent memoir, “Daring: My Passages,” which recounts her personal and professional encounters with social injustice and explores her challenges working in the male-dominated field of 1960s and 1970s journalism.
A voice for justice, Sheehy witnessed firsthand the ills of civil rights issues around the world and written about them in most of the nation’s major magazines and newspapers—stories made all the more poignant through the use of the “New Journalism” style she helped develop and popularize. In addition, Sheehy is founder of the Daring Project and Ambassador to Legacy Stories.
