Arts + Culture News: VIBES St. Louis Tickets Now On Sale

Critical Mass for the Visual Arts is currently accepting submissions for their 2016 Creative Stimulus Project. The project aims to facilitate the growth and retention of artists in St. Louis, and is awarded to three St. Louis-based visual artists in support of their work and the development of their careers. Artists are selected by a jury of local artists, curators and arts professionals. Submissions are due June 20 by 6pm, and recipients will be notified July 2016. All The Art, a St. Louis-based visual arts quarterly, just released its Summer 2016 issue, featuring stunning original work by artist Eugenia Alexander on its cover. This is the magazine’s fifth issue, and includes art exhibition reviews of Mark Bradford’s “Receive Calls on Your Cell Phone From Jail,” and William Morris’ “Immediacy of Distance,” as well as interviews with multimedia artist Andréa Stanislav and furniture designer Pete Voss. Hard copies of the issue are available at various locations around St. Louis, in addition to being viewable online here.

LouFest recently announced their long-awaited lineup for their 2016 music festival. This year’s artists include Ms. Lauryn Hill, LCD Soundsystem, Vince Staples, St. Lucia, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Twin Peaks, Illphonics, and many more. Early bird tickets are already sold out, but general admission tickets and VIP weekend passes are currently available online, with one-day passes coming soon. Mvstermind, one of St. Louis’ most notable up-and-coming hip hop artists, recently released a new music video for his song “Mali Moolah.” The video, featuring plenty of recognizable St. Louis landmarks, is the artist’s first to be hosted on The rapper has been nominated for a 2016 Riverfront Times Music Award, has been featured on STL Up Late, St. Louis Magazine, Deluxe Magazine, TeamBackPack, and was named an emerging artist to watch by Complex Magazine. Tickets for VIBES St. Louis, one of the largest arts events in the city, officially went on sale this week. Early-bird tickets for the main event are available online, in addition to package deal tickets that include admission to this year’s new addition—a VIBES brunch held the morning after the event. VIBES’ main event is scheduled Saturday, June 30 at 6pm at 2720 Cherokee Performing Arts Center. This year’s lineup of visual artists, musical acts and food are available here.
