Arts + Culture News: St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Will Pay Tribute to Prince

“HAMILTON,” this year’s Tony award winner for Best Musical, will be coming to the Fabulous Fox Theatre St. Louis as part of the 2017-2018 U.S. Bank Broadway season. Current season subscribers who renew their subscription for the 2017-2018 season will be able to guarantee their seats for the “HAMILTON” premiere before tickets go on sale to the general public. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will be paying tribute to Prince in concert on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7pm at Powell Hall. The one-night-only concert will be conducted by Brent Havens, and will feature some of the late musician’s most well-known songs, including “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry,” “Raspberry Beret” and others. 718 N. The Center for Creative Arts (COCA) recently announced its new initiative, “Outside In: Paint for Peace,” a collaboration community art exhibition featuring original murals painted by community artists in the days, weeks and months following the events in Ferguson, MO in the fall of 2014. The initiative seeks to document the “Paint for Peace” Movement that grew out of that political unrest, and will launch on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Millstone Gallery. 524 Trinity Ave., Delmar Loop

Startup Connection 2016 recently announced that applications for the Venture Showcase are now open. Startup Connection is the region’s largest event focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. Applications will be accepted until Friday, September 2, and all companies accepted into the showcase will be announced in late September.
