July 5: Chuck Palahniuk at Left Bank Books
Left Bank Books is hosting a book signing with bestselling author Chuck Palahniuk, featuring his book, “Fight Club 2,” today at 3pm. Signing guidelines are viewable online. Tickets are also available online, and each ticket includes a hardcover copy of “Fight Club 2” with purchase.

July 5: Cahokia Lecture at the Missouri History Museum
The Mound City Archaeological Society presents a free lecture on the roots of Cahokia as a “City of the Cosmos,” led by Dr. John E. Kelly of Washington University. The lecture will be this evening from 7-8pm at the Missouri History Museum

July 8: Exhibition Opening for “Spread”
The gallery opening for Reese Gallery’s first pop-up show, “Spread,” is on Friday, July 8 from 6-9pm. The collaborative show explores “the inner life of adolescence, in all its awkward beauty,” and includes writings by Elizabeth Tucker, and visual work by Michael Drummond and Kat Reynolds.

July 8: Maplewood Arts Festival
Maplewood’s annual arts festival, “Let Them Eat Art,” is on Friday, July 8 from 6-11pm. The festival will include family activities, and will be celebrating Saratoga Lanes’ Centennial, in addition to paying tribute to the bowling pin found throughout the streets of Historic Downtown Maplewood. The parade starts at 6pm on Sutton Blvd.

July 8: Exhibition Opening for “#Indulge”
The exhibition opening for Duane Reed Gallery’s newest show, “#Indulge,” is on Friday, July 8 from 5-8pm. Artists include Irina Zaytceva, Paul McMullan, Katherine Glover, Calvin Ma, John Garrett, Andrew Brandmeyer and others.

July 8: Art Hill Film Series: “Top Gun”
The St. Louis Art Museum’s summer Art Hill Film Series continues this Friday evening with a showing of “Top Gun” at 6pm. A schedule with other films and dates in the series is available online.

July 9: Art, Mimosas & Pancakes
Brock Seals’ annual art exhibition, “Art, Mimosas & Pancakes,” is on Saturday, July 9 from 7-11pm at Mad Art Gallery. The exhibition will feature artists from St. Louis and Chicago, and a special musical performance by Noah & Seal$. Advance tickets are available for purchase online.

July 9: Exhibition Opening for “Diva”
Mary Margaret Sandbothe’s solo exhibition, “Diva,” opens on Saturday, July 9 at fort gondo compound for the arts from 7-10pm. The show runs from July 9 to August 6.

July 9: Borderland Regional Poetry Slam
The final stage of Borderlands Regional Poetry Slam will be at UrbArts on Saturday, July 9 from 8-11pm, and will feature the top teams from the preliminary rounds of competition. The event is free before 8pm, and $10 after.
