Shibori in the Park
April 23, 10am-1pm in Tower Grove Park

In this Enamel-run class, students will learn the art of Shibori, a Japanese tie-dye technique that uses natural indigo dye to create vivid and intricate designs. A canvas throw is included in the class, but feel free to bring extra material to dye. The workshop meets in the scenic Tower Grove Park and refreshments are provided.

Craft Uncorked!  Raku Clay (Ages 21+)

Mold, decorate and fire a clay vessel in the Clay Studio Raku kiln. Bowls will be based on the ancient Japanese art of Raku firing, but contemporary designs may be explored. Wine and snacks provided.

Frame Loom Weaving II

This class is taught by a true textile expert: Hillary Bird of Wabi Sabi Textile Company will teach students the tricks of the weaving trade. Skills you’ll learn include the plain weave, rya, shapes, piling, soumack and hem stitching.

Bonsai Vessels with Joel Price
April 23, 1-5pm at Craft Alliance Delmar Studios

Design and hand-build a terracotta vessel for a Bonsai tree and learn to balance aesthetics and utility with this Craft Alliance class. Top off your afternoon of clay working by touring a Bonsai garden.

The Missouri History Museum clothing swap is back! Bring at least one bag of your unwanted clothes to contribute, then dive in and find some new-to-you treasures. Take them home as-is, or head to the sewing room where volunteers will help you alter or completely transform your new duds (sewing notions provided). Also, in honor of the Little Black Dress exhibit, this year will feature a special LBD rack.

Reclaimed Wood Rings

Prepare to learn to saw, drill and shape wood using hand and power drills, hand saws, files and a belt sander. By the end of this workshop, you will have transformed pieces of scrap lumber into beautiful geometric jewelry.
