#ALIVEatNYFW: On The Scene At Tibi AW15
There’s a reason why we overheard comments like, “I want all the coats” and “Dreamy!” while observing Amy Smilovic’s AW15 show for Tibi, which took place in trendy Chelsea proper, against a red brick façade, narrow halls and high ceilings with exposed piping.
Perhaps best worn by modern minimalists, Smilovic’s collection drew heavy influence from the Inuit culture’s coolness of colors, range of textures, and warmth. Oversized everything was abound. From furry shearling accents to the lustrous appearance of mohair, we saw cool, soft gray and seafoam coats paired with tidy boat and v-neck sweaters, long, cropped skirts and cropped pants – perfect for pairing chunky knit socks with a sandal or heel.
Reminded Us Of: What Annie Hall’s wardrobe, circa 1977, would have looked like had the film been shot in Aspen.
The show’s energy felt like a buzzy fashion community catch-up, as it drew attendance from many of fashion’s most formidable writers and editors, including Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine, “it-girl” Olivia Palermo, Vogue’s Alexandra Michler, Harper’s Bazaar’s Chrissy Rutherford, Refinery29’s Bobby Schuessler, and many, many more.
