ALIVE Takes Home Magazine of the Year at Great Plains Journalism Awards!
Our office is alive with high-fives after taking home the Magazine of the Year award at the 2014 Great Plains Journalism Awards!
The eight-state competition includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota. The awards are presented by the Tulsa Press Club and invites journalists to submit their best work from the past calendar year.
The magazine awards included 12 award categories, culminating in the Magazine of the Year award, the highest honor.
Why not go for the gold?
“To hear “ALIVE” named the winner of that category made me incredibly proud of our creative team!” says ALIVE Editor-in-Chief Kelly Hamilton, who accepted the award. “Huge congratulations goes to Executive Editor Jennifer Dulin Wiley, contributing creative director David Hsia, our design staff, and the writers, photographers, illustrators, and other creatives who put their blood, sweat and tears into this every single day. It was also very exciting to be among peers doing incredible work in the Midwest and to have this level of acknowledgement for our own.
The judges comments? “This is national magazine quality.”
This year, the Great Plains Journalism Awards received over 800 entries across the eight-state region.
Congratulations to the ALIVE staff! And St. Louis, this win is for you! Thank your for trusting us with your stories, for your love for our city and for celebrating that love with us every day!
