Gallery Watch: 'Glamour: Costumes and Images From The Collection Of Mary Strauss' at Sheldon Art Gallery
This past Friday, theater and fashion-lovers collided at the opening of the much anticipated, “Glamour: Costumes and Images from the Collection of Mary Strauss” at the Sheldon Art Gallery. Part of the “First Friday’s” series, the exhibit is a culmination of Mary Strauss’ costumes and images she has collected over the years, as she and her husband were the bludgeoning force that has kept the theatre alive and restored over the past several decades. Her collection includes costumes worn by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor (“Cleopatra” 1963; “A Little Night Music” 1977; and “Poker Alice” 1987), Norma Shearer (“Marie Antoinette,” 1938) and Susan Hayword (“With A Song In My Heart,” 1952). On display were two Bob Mackie runway gowns from the designer’s personal collection. Countless other designers and celebrity gowns are included in the glamorous exhibit and is one certainly not to be missed.

The exhibit is at the Sheldon Art Gallery located at 3648 Washington Blvd. and runs through Dec. 28, 2014.
