ALIVE In The News: A Hat-tip from Folio: and Good News From Great Plains

 In Culture

This week Folio:, a publication and website dedicated to keeping publishing professionals up to date on industry news, insights and best practices, dug into something close to our hearts: ALIVE Magazine’s 2016 redesign.

In an article titled “How ALIVE adapted to the Times by Reinvesting in Print,” Folio: Associate Editor Greg Dool explored the journey our publication has gone through, and why the co-founders made the leap. We’ve talked about a few of our bigger changes in 2016’s first letter from the editor, but Dool sums up the ‘why’ of our decision around change clearly.

He writes, “For a regional magazine in today’s industry, there is perhaps no commodity more valuable than the trust of its readership, fostered through clearly defined values, an authoritative voice in the community, and the provision of an experience its audience won’t find anywhere else.”

Amid this exciting industry news, ALIVE has also been named as a finalist for the 2016 Great Plains Journalism Awards. Winners of the eight-state contest honoring print, web, TV and magazine journalists will be named during a ceremony in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 18.
