This classically modern bride created the wedding of her dreams, balancing out elegant aesthetics with authentic rustic details.

When Julie Lusser first met Danny Kwon at their employer’s Campus Crusade for Christ’s “Summer Project” in Macedonia, she never thought she would one day call her new acquaintance her husband. But with a little persistence from Danny and a lot of serendipity, Julie and Danny’s romance blossomed into a deep love and understanding for one another. Playing up Julie’s love for surprises, Danny’s unconventional proposal completely caught Julie off guard, having three unknown escorts take Julie to a surprise location where she was then met by her future husband, asking for her hand in marriage. Reflecting their Christian ideals, Danny and Julie’s August 7 wedding was an unforgettable affair, with friends, family and love defining the day, leading Julie and Danny into a life of happiness they have only just begun to enjoy.

[THE DETAILS]

MOMENT IN TIME Julie had chosen her photographer nearly six years prior to her wedding. After seeing the work of Jeff and Julia Woods of Portrait Life, she knew she
had found the perfect photographer for her (1.866.770.0008, jeffreyandjuliawoods.com).

THE PERFECT FIT After trying on nearly 75 dresses, Julie found what she was looking for in a diamond white, private collection gown at Maiden Voyage Bridal (636.394.5858,
maidenvoyagebridal.com).

SUITED FOR SUMMER Julie reflected the summer vibe in her wedding party through the groom and groomsmen’s suits. Rather than traditional black and white tuxedos, the men wore tan poplin suits (Jos. A. Bank, 407.275.1977, josbank.com).

FLOWER POWER Sticking with a single flower variety, Julie’s bouquet was garnered with gorgeous soft white peonies while her bridesmaids carried green hydrangeas (Mary Tuttle’s Floral and Gifts, 636.728.0480, marytuttlesflowers.com).

PERFECT PLANNING From beginning to end, Josie Littlepage of Cosmopolitan Events made sure Julie and Danny’s wedding experience was everything they hoped it would be (Cosmopolitan Events, 314.249.9107, cosmopolitanevents.com).

FAIRYTALE AFFAIR The Studio Inn at St. Albans, provided Julie with the perfect balance of natural, rustic beauty and elegant ambiance. Going for a bolder color theme with candy apple red, Kraft Paper brown and elements of muted green tones, Julie completed her look with details like birchwood and moss table number stands (636.458.0131, studioinnstalbans.com).

SOMETHING SPECIAL A self-proclaimed lover of surprises, Julie honored her husband’s Korean heritage with a traditional Korean fan dancer during the reception’s cocktail hour.

YOU’RE INVITED… Sticking with the rustic elegance aesthetic of her wedding, Julie
incorporated her wedding colors into her Checkerboard Ltd. invitations; candy apple red paper overlaid the creme invitation while her and her husband’s initials were enclosed in a sketched circle (Vellum, 314.909.1640, velluminc.com).

ICING ON THE NONTRADITIONAL CAKE
Not a fan of traditional wedding cake, Julie decided to do a white cake with alternating layers of strawberry and tiramisu mousse from Sugaree Baking Company (314.645.5496, sugareebaking.com).

FINISHING TOUCHES For her table décor, Julie created the signature rustic feel of her wedding with pastoral details; authentic birchwood table numbers and clothespin-held escort cards.
