ALIVE at NYFW: Street Style at Lincoln Center

 In Culture

From flat top fades to metallic everything, street style at Lincoln Center never disappoints. The Fall 2013 shows brought out the fashion world’s elite, but NEMO really kicked their fashion know-how into high gear. With icy slush covering the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week grounds, it was a challenge to walk in flats. Of course, that didn’t stop many from busting out their 6″ space wedges and cutout wooden heels. Some though, decided to play it cool and go for effortless ease in Hunter rainboots, leather riding styles or all out moon shoes.

Menswear took the spotlight in layered outerwear, clever pops of neon or royal blue and head wear from ball caps to wide brim hats. Scarves and wool coats pulled together most looks, while a few daring men opted to go the jacketless route for the sake of a hopeful Lincoln Center street style capture. And I’m glad they did.

So how do we translate this into everyday St. Louis style? Get the sportswear look found in ALIVE’s recent Game On spread by pairing ball caps with pointed toe pumps – or go for a slam dunk in tuxedo print athletic pants, a silky top and a textured blazer. For the fashion savvy man, the devil’s in the details: get the look with a burst of color, rolled cuff or an unexpected felt hat.
