A Brand-New Barbecue Joint in Kansas City

 In Feature, Food

As a city well-known for its barbecue, Kansas City has yet to disappoint when it comes to specialty-cooked meats doused in the city’s signature thick, smoky-sweet sauce. So, it’s no surprise that one of the newest additions to the Kansas City barbecue scene—County Road Ice House—has been warmly received. Posted up in the Power and Light District, the restaurant’s long list of choices on the menu will be a treat to local or visiting barbecue-lovers. The barbecue platters and sandwiches definitely stand out among the most appealing menu items to try, like the Carolina pulled pork, made from smoked pork shoulder, coleslaw and Bubba’s Carolina sauce, on a toasted bun. Diners can also order the classic half slab or full slab of spare ribs, both served with your choice of a side.

Funny enough, vegetarians can also get by at this enlightened barbecue establishment. The restaurant offers a veggie burger, aptly named the “Impossible Burger,” served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and the venue’s smoky special sauce, on a toasted brioche bun. There’s also the house salad, made with tomatoes, eggs, red onions, cucumbers, cheddar cheese and croutons.
