6 Must-Try Beers At Schlafly’s HOP In The City Beer Festival
Taste the tantalizing brews poured at the 18th Annual HOP in the City Beer Festival at The Schlafly Tap Room on Sept. 17 from 12-9pm. HOP in the City is a seriously big party loaded with suds and sounds, and this year’s HOP features a slate of more than 40 beers. If you’re like us, you may not be able to try all 40 beers in one outing, so we’ve teamed up with Schlafly to provide six highlighted beverages for both the discerning and leisurely drinker.
This German Hefeweizen-styled beer is foamy and pulls no punches. Perfect for connoisseurs and casual drinkers, it is an ideal tonic following a long summer day of work. Looking beyond its creamy head, drinkers will find the unfiltered flavor of Bavaria to their liking. Made primarily with unfiltered malted wheat with malted barley added. This lightly colored Bavarian ale has a clove-like and fruity aroma.
2/ Tasmanian IPA
This dry single-hopped beer is highlighted by citrus and pineapple flavors which blend together without overwhelming the drinker. Schlafly brews this smooth tasting ale with Australian hops, making it a unique and aromatic brew.
3/ Coconut Crème Ale
An abundance of mellow flavors permeate from this limited-edition American-style wheat ale. This dessert beer is fermented with coconut purée and aged on lightly toasted coconut flakes. For those who want some frothy sweetness in their glass, look to the Coconut Crème.
4/ Peach Saison
Brewed in the Farmhouse style, Peach Saison is a wheat beer that ups the ante by adding peach purée during the fermentation process. Spicy and crisp, this nuanced brew is perfect for chilling with your friends.
5/ Hop Trial
Uniting the brewer and patron, Schlafly introduced the Hop Trial program whereby Schlafly’s all-star team of experts puts beer-lovers first by eliciting their feedback about several new offerings in the group and then putting the winners on tap. Last month, the brewery collected the best of these into one variety SMaSH Pack featuring 12 bottles with three bottles each of Hallertau Blanc (floral), Bramling Cross (spicy), Enigma (fruity) and Eureka! (piney) in every box.
6/ Mystery Pilotworks Beer
Those looking for some adventure at the festival can dive into Schlafly’s exclusive collection of small brews from the brewery’s Pilotworks 20-gallon system. These specialty tappings of one-off beers will most likely never be poured outside of the festival.
Tickets for HOP in the City Beer Festival offer fans multiple ways to sample all day long. Tasting Tickets are available for $30 and include full access to festival grounds and unlimited tastings from 1 to 5pm.
