Taking a look at the newest  designer collections is always fun, but how often are we actually able to shop what we see? A great way to take advantage of the newest trends without shopping up a storm is to take notes on the styling that designers showcase in their collections. More often than not, you are able to make a nod to the newest looks with items from your own closet. Here are six styling tricks we snagged from the Resort 2017 collections that you can try now:

1/ Utility Jacket + Platforms: Style a sporty utility jacket with simple trousers and metallic platforms to channel this look by Dsquared2.

5/ Open Knits Over Poplin: Although summer layering can be tricky in the heat and humidity of the Midwest, a perfect compromise can be layering your cool, summery knits over poplin button-ups and dresses for an easy look that won’t have you running for the air conditioning.

6/ Dresses Over Pants: We saw this one sneak onto the runways this fall, but summer is a great time to test this one out—in or out of the office—starring a vibrant print and a sleek pair of trousers.
