6 Art Galleries In East Nashville

 In Culture, Feature

Across the Cumberland River in Nashville lies East Nashville, an epicenter of young professionals, creatives, charming residential architecture, parks, restaurants, and, of course: art galleries.

While Music City gets its name from the many successful, record-breaking musicians who’ve lived and worked in the city, creativity begets creativity, paving the way for other makers and creators. And, as an area well-known for its lively, large-scale street art, in East Nashville you need only walk down the street for a bit of inspiration. Keep reading to learn more about a handful of art galleries and gallery-hybrids we love in the area.

Art & Invention Gallery
This gallery is a staple of the arts scene in East Nashville’s Five Points District, with an array of highly unique pieces and five to six shows annually. Run by a husband-wife team of working artists, Art & Invention Gallery shows work by a number of visual artists, jewelry makers, potters, sculptors and more, with an eclectic vibe that is well worth your visit.

Atomic Nashville
Also located in the Five Points District, Atomic Nashville sells books and music alongside paintings, drawings and specialty pieces by local artists. Pop into this cozy community destination for a great new read or listen, and settle in for one of the locale’s many music, poetry and reading events.

Turnip Green Creative Reuse
This art nonprofit and gallery space has a multi-part mission that supports artists, art educators and emerging artists by supplying materials which otherwise end up in area landfills. The space encourages artistic play and facilitates space for creatives to connect, grounded in a passion for green living.

Ed Nash Studio
British artist Ed Nash fell in love with East Nashville’s unique vibe, as the neighborhood presents the perfect background to explore Nash’s flair for abstract works. It’s a sensibility that spills over into his landscape works that show a reverence of the natural world, with a deeper and oftentimes pastel-hued twist. Catch one of Nash’s frequent open studios or reach out on the artist’s contact page to request a viewing.

Main Street Gallery
This East Nashville destination spot and event space can be used for a host of purposes, but frequently hosts art shows and openings. Many local artists have hosted openings in the space, which has the perfect atmosphere for sipping cocktails, munching on appetizers and enjoying innovative pieces.

Lionheart Tattoo Studio And Art Gallery
This utterly charming East Nashville locale features an all-female lineup of custom tattoo artists, and patrons can also view fine art on the walls from local artists. The venue also hosts frequent art show openings, honoring the creative nature of the space.
