5 Unconventional Places To Practice Yoga In St. Louis

St. Louis is full of dedicated yogis and part-time practicers. Thanks to all of the fabulous studios in and around the city, there is never a shortage of classes to sign up for. Lately, yoga groups have been popping up in fun and unconventional places. Summer is a great time to take advantage of these inventive classes to shake up your practice.

1/ Yoga At The Gateway Arch
Instructors from the South City YMCA hold free class from 9-10am under the arch on Saturday mornings, weather permitting. The classes are free and you can reserve your spot for free by visiting the arch website. As you lay yourself into savasana, under the arch, peer up at the beauty of St. Louis’ greatest landmark.

2/ Yoga At Ballpark Village
These free sessions, all held outside at Ballpark Village, are taught each week by a new instructor.  Stretch out on the Busch II Infield  now until August 18. The next class is July 9 with Kim Winn from Yoga Source. A full list of dates can be found through ALIVE.

3/ Yoga At Tower Grove Farmers’ Market
Next time you head to the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market, bring along your yoga mat. This popular yoga series meets every Saturday on the lawn in Tower Grove park, next to the market. Classes are free for all and start at 9am.

4/ Yoga At Francis Park
Every Sunday afternoon from 4-5pm, community yoga is held outdoors at Francis Park in the garden area at Nottingham and Tamm Avenue. Classes are free and donations are accepted by instructor Roxanne Krummenacher. Looking for more outdoor om experiences? Check out this informative Facebook community with locations and dates.

5/ Yoga at Backbar
Backbar in the Central West End has teamed up with Lululemon for a regular yoga series this summer, Wine & Yoga. Mats are provided for this yoga class that meets by the Maryland Plaza Fountain. Yogis meet for a 7pm yoga class hosted by Lululemon and stay for an 8pm extended happy hour of wine and sangria at Backbar. The next event is July 24. Find more info on their Facebook page.
