1/ Missouri Sand Volleyball And Social Club
The four sand volleyball courts outside Concord Bowling Lanes in South County serve as the home of Missouri Sand Volleyball. On regular week nights you will find adults of all ages clinking glasses between heated games of sand volleyball. Local player Stanton Schumacher says, “I love being involved in a weekly game. It gives me a chance to be active and also see my friends every week.” Mens’, womens’ and coed leagues are available and your team can choose between intermediate, rec and high rec levels.

2/ Vetta Sports
Has watching the World Cup inspired you to form a fútbol team of your own? If soccer is your game, Vetta offers adult mens’, womens’, coed and pick-up leagues at six different area locations. If you don’t have enough players for a whole team, they offer a running roster of “free agents” willing to fill out your group. Whether you end up winning or getting thumped, there are bars at every location to make sure the night is a good time.

3/ Sports Monster
If you are having trouble deciding exactly what sport it is you’re interested in, consider Sports Monster. In St. Louis, Sports Monster organizes everything from softball and soccer to dodgeball and kickball. If you’re looking for a less competitive atmosphere, you can even choose from bags and bowling leagues. Fill your cooler before you head off to try something new.

4/ St. Louis Volleyball
St. Louis Volleyball offers sand volleyball as well as indoor leagues at three area locations. During the warm months, Downtown dwellers can sign up to pepper the ball at Wave Taco. This Mexican inspired sand court is situated in the heart of Downtown on 14th Street. While you wait for your turn to play, they offer tacos, margaritas and beer.

5/ Happy’s Running Club
One of our favorite local trainers, Kourtney Thomas, recently alerted us to Happy’s Running Club. Every Tuesday, this casual 5K running group meets at The Royale to get in a quick workout. After jogging around Tower Grove Park, they rendezvous back at the bar for some drinks.

Next time your are wondering how you could possibly dedicate yourself to a routine workout, consider making it a fun social event. We suggest grabbing some friends and joining one of the many local recreational leagues. Find more tips for making your workouts fun on our blog, Be Well STL.
