4 Hands Brewing Company Supports St. Louis Nonprofit, Unleashing Potential

For Kevin Lemp of 4 Hands Brewing Company, starting a craft brewery in his hometown was always about becoming a positive pillar of engagement in the St. Louis community as well as developing meticulously crafted brews. One particular American pale ale in the brewery’s portfolio, City Wide, helps Lemp achieve that goal.

For every can of City Wide purchased, 4 Hands donates a portion of the proceeds to a different civic-minded partner each quarter. Beneficiaries of the proceeds from City Wide are organizations and nonprofits that strongly contribute to the St. Louis community, many of which also have a special tie to 4 Hands or one of the business’ team members. This year’s four partners are: Unleashing Potential, St. Louis Public Radio, Tower Grove Park and Hope For Young Adults With Cancer.

Unleashing Potential, the brewery’s first quarterly recipient, is a vital St. Louis nonprofit that provides assistance to economically disadvantaged children and families in the city. The organization focuses on three core-programming areas, which include accredited early childhood care and education, before- and after-school programming for about 900 children, and a support group for teen mothers. As one might imagine, access to such programs for many can be the difference between flourishing and struggling.

“It gives us the opportunity to provide both financial support and public recognition to organizations that mean something to someone within the 4 Hands family, so it’s easy for us to get involved, have a passionate voice and concern for the recipients’ mission,” the brewery says.

In addition to donating from the sales of City Wide, 4 Hands hosted a book drive to gather new or gently used books to support Unleashing Potential and benefit its programs. Attendees who contributed a book were rewarded for their efforts with a free beer. 4 Hands will also continue to collect books through the month of March to donate.

The brewery is also in the midst of making plans to volunteer at the nonprofit, to deepen their understanding of the organization’s goals and ideals. “That way, we can see firsthand the importance of Unleashing Potential and their mission, as well as interacting with the youth within St. Louis.”

This post has been brought to you in part by the mentioned organization. Thank you for supporting the companies that keep ALIVE growing.
