There are several great books dedicated to eating a diet rich in clean, organic food. Michael Pollan’s, “Food Rules” is among the best and most concise. Pollan is an American author and an activist for eating cleanly and healthfully. He has written seven books on the topic and many more essays. He’s also had a major role in films like “Food, Inc.” and “The Botany Of Desire.”

“The Backyard Homestead,” by Carleen Madigan proves that even if you live in the middle of a bustling city, you can still grow your own food. Madigan outlines how to grow your own food, raise your own animals and cook all of your own food even if you live on an acre or less.

When diagnosed with a life-threatening cancer, Chris Karr¬†transformed her diet and changed her life. She cut out drinking, smoking and began eating a wholly organic and low-acidic diet and remains cancer-free, years after her harrowing diagnosis. She’s written four books on the subject, including “Crazy, Sexy, Kitchen” a book full of healthy recipes and clean eating tips.

Next time you stop in the bookstore for a best-seller and coffee, walk through the health section and pick up these life-changing reads.
