3 Lipstick Tricks To Master
In the famous words of Dolly Parton, “The only way I’d be caught without makeup is if my radio fell in the bathtub while I was taking a bath and electrocuted me and I was in between makeup at home. I hope my husband would slap a little lipstick on me before he took me to the morgue.”
For those of you who echo Dolly’s sentiments about the value of a little lip color, here are three tricks to master that perfect pout antemortem.
1/ Fixing Broken Lipstick: Take a lighter and carefully melt the base of the stick, reattaching the stem. Clean up the sides with the edge of a bobby pin, close up and stick in the freezer for about 20 minutes to re-solidify.
2/ Setting Your Lipstick: Take a single-ply tissue and lay it across your finished lips. Using a setting powder or translucent powder, brush across the tissue to set.
3/ Layering For Long-Wear: For staying power, start with a light powder as a base, followed by lining your lips with a shade complimentary to either the natural shade of your lips, or your shade of lipstick. Fill in completely with liner. Apply a layer of lipstick followed by tip #2 above to keep the color vibrant for hours.
